“We’re all tired, and we need sleep, and we need help, and we need friends. “

What's something you wish adults understood about kids today? That's a creative question... I just wish -- 'cause I feel like some -- a lot of adults don't really understand what kids are really going through. Because, like, 100% of middle school kids are going through something hard right now, and, just, 24/7. And I feel like a lot of times adults can be like, focused on themselves or focused on other adults or just like, a little like, "How was your day, kid?" But they don't really -- a lot of them don't really investigate, you know? Like I feel like they need to -- or like you need to be able to tell if someone's wrong -- doing something wrong, like being sad or not talking or, like -- a lot of -- a big deal -- it really bugs me when people are like shaking their leg of anxiety. Because, like, I feel for them and I know what it's like. Or like, staring off in the distance. Like, all middle schoolers do that. We're all tired, and we need sleep, and we need help, and we need friends. So, if any teachers see anyone, just out of -- especially out of it, whatever day. Not in it. Being goofy. Just -- or even, like, crying. Like, actually, please do something.

“You just get stressed out sometimes, it kind of makes you crazy. But no, she… was just plain crazy.”

Everything was gonna go fine, I was kind of freaking out but like not horribly so. And then all of a sudden, this random girl comes in. And she starts screaming, she's like, "Don't touch me! No, I'm taking this test today, now!" and we're all like looking at each other like, "Who the heck is this girl?" And the lady's like, "No, I'm sorry, you can't take your test," because -- well I, what I understood was that we had already passed, like the 8 o'clock limit. And like, if you're late to the test, you can't take it. Even if they haven't started the test, which I guess makes sense 'cause then everyone has to start the test at the same time, otherwise, you're not allowed to take the test. And so she came in, she was like -- and she was like, "No, I'm taking it now, stop touching me!" and I was like, "Oh, did something happen in the hallway where they were trying to stop her from coming into the room 'cause that might void our scores?" Even though we hadn't started yet. But I thought maybe you're not allowed to come in after a set period of time. And then she just keeps screaming off her head, and she calls her mom and put her on speaker phone. And she's like, "Mom, they're not letting me take the test!" And then everyone's just like staring. Some people are giggling 'cause this is like such a crazy thing. None of us really know what to do. We were so stressed out and there's just this random girl coming in, like yelling at the top of her lungs. Like what are we supposed to do?  And then she starts screaming again, "Don't touch me!" and I'm like, I can see now at this point that like, no one's even gotten within a foot of her, if I'm being quite honest, like no one's touching her at all. And so I'm like, "Oh, she crazy. Ahhhh." I thought she was just stressed out. I was kind of like sympathetic to that. I was like, yeah, you know, I got you, girl. You just get stressed out sometimes, it kind of makes you crazy. But no, she was, she was, she was just plain crazy. And so then she leaves the school -- she leaves the room sobbing, and like…

“Later, the neighbor mentioned that their rooster had disappeared.”

Some friends of ours had some chickens they wanted to get rid of, and, "Oh, sure, bring 'em down." And so we had these chickens, and they were kind of a motley collection of various kinds that had been cross-bred and what have you, and so I- I'm not even sure what kind of chickens they were. Um, I know they were -- there was, uh, Rhode Island Reds in it, but there were -- some were black, and what have you.  And, uh, another neighbor heard that we had chickens and she said, "You know what, we've got chickens and our neighbor's have got this rooster that keeps coming down and beating up our rooster. Would you mind having a rooster?" And I said, "Sure, I don't mind." Right? I just -- 'cause we didn't have a rooster, and I said, "Sure, bring him on down." So, the next time that neighbor's rooster came to beat up on her rooster, she caught him and brought him down to our house. And then she said later, the neighbor mentioned that their rooster had disappeared and she had no idea where it went and [name] just said, "Well, I just can't imagine where that rooster went." So anyway, we had a contraband rooster and he lived a very happy life here with his little flock of chickens.

“I think she was kinda like stealing the customer.”

Yeah, one time -- 'cause I was a kitchen designer and um, one of the designers -- so I was in the break room on break, and the other designer, who was more of a frenemy, I learned, said, "Hey, there's some really angry customers. You know, they -- you messed up a project or something, or they claim you messed up a project or something. You messed something up, whatever -- an order. You know, you just, you just stay in here for a little bit, and -- 'cause I've been working with them, so you just, you know -- so that they don't get angry and yell or something. You just stay in here for a few minutes. I'll help 'em. And that'll make things smoother." And I trusted her at the time, so it's like, "Okay, uh, thanks!" Well, it was like a long time, and I was like, "WTF!" And then I think after that, they started going to her because they -- 'cause she really wanted like, like, um, house flippers and contractors, like she wanted the professional, like repeat business people, not just the little, like "I'm gonna get a couple of cabinets here and there for my house," you know, homeowners. She wanted like, repeat ones. And so I think that what she was doing was trying to get them to go to her, you know, instead of me. And so I think she was kinda like stealing the customer and trying to win them over. So, you know, I didn't know her at the time, and you know, maybe I was younger and more naïve, so it's like, at first I thought, "Oh, she's like trying to smooth out a situation. Oh, that's cool." And I'm already in the break room, like, you know? But I think she was actually like taking them, you know what I mean? So, um so I thought it was like a nice thing, and it was actually more of a sabotage-y thing.
