“But my best friend, she bites her ice cream. And she finds it normal…”

Okay, so the question was, is there anything that you've seen other people, like you do that other people, that you thought was normal and other people don't. But I don't, I can't really think of anything. But my best friend, she bites her ice cream. And she finds it normal and I feel like it's the weirdest thing. I know multiple people do it. I think my dad does it, but it's so weird. Like there's these things called mochi which are like, it's like some type of like flour type thing. I don't really know what to call it, around the outside and then ice cream on the inside and you bite into it. Which I understand that and I used to hate them because my teeth would be so sensitive. But now I'm absolutely obsessed with them. They're amazing! But, she bites into like ice cream that's like an ice cream cone or like bites it off of her spoon. And I find it like it makes me cringe, how does that not hurt your mouth?

“We have to remove a wreath…a robin made a nest in and safely brought into the world four babies.”

What's a chore I've been putting off? We have to remove a wreath, on our front door, that a Robin made a nest in and safely brought into the world four babies. But we found out last night that one of the babies keeps coming home. At least we assume it's one of the babies, it's still pretty little. But they left a couple of weeks ago, like they've been out of our door and we kept forgetting to put the wreath in the trash because, as nice as that wreath is, they pooped all over it and our front door, which we have to clean the front door and the sidewalk in front of it, so it's kind of a chore. And then last night my fiancé went outside and scared the bird and then this morning I watched the bird fly out as I backed out of the driveway. So, one of the babies keeps coming back or mama came back and laid more eggs. I'm gonna have to check it out later. So, it might be a chore that just has to keep getting put off cuz I'm not gonna remove a nest with eggs. That's like my no no.

“…there was just something really life-affirming about celebrating somebody’s hundredth birthday”

The occasion was my friend, her father turned 100 in May. I mean, like a week ago in May and they had a hundredth birthday party for him, with a lot of guests, there were over a hundred people there, they had good food, and polish dancers, and some storytelling, and it was just a really fabulous day. It's interesting with the pandemic because they had planned this last year to be his 99th party and then, of course, we know, what happened with pandemic. There's no way they could have a party. And they thought well maybe we can have it in a year's time so they, of course, are praying that their dad lives for another year. You have to get him through the pandemic, and also we're hopeful that, I mean they had to start making reservations and everything. Well before we were completely sure how open we would be,whether it would be okay to have a party, but they went ahead and did it, and it worked out really well because I was vaccinated, the friends that I had there were vaccinated, and I'm pretty sure all of the birthday boy's friends were vaccinated since they were all a lot older and, you know, among the first eligible. You know it was really special. I actually don't know my friend's Dad that well, I mean I've met him a few times but I've known her for like twenty years. So I certainly know about her family and uh-- so there was just something really life-affirming about celebrating somebody's hundredth birthday, and I thought how many-- I've never been invited to a hundredth birthday party before. I may never get invited to one again. I don't know. So it was really special and it was special to see him.He had come through this terrible year, like we all had. Many of his friends and relatives were there and, I was just like I said, it was just really life-affirming.

“Its a really neat audiobook.”

It's a really neat audiobook. Y'know, they're on this long journey across the state of Texas on horseback in 1870 and I kinda felt like I was on a long journey and that I had this little girl next to me that I was trying to deliver to someplace safe, but I would highly recommend that book. News of the World is, y'know, he makes his living by going to these small towns in northern Texas and he reads stories from the London Times and papers from all around the world. Not so much the local news, but papers from the East and West coasts and Canada and London and other parts of Europe and just shares -- y'know brings a peek into what's happening around the world because there's no clue when you're in Northern Texas in 1870, what's happening in the rest of the world and I just thought it's an interesting take on how we've -- how the world has changed. How we have instantaneous news and a global connection. People would pay a dime to listen to him read the news for an hour, hour and a half, in a local little theater in some of these small towns in Texas. Interesting way to make a living.

“I had to clean up the leaves. So I did and I found a dead mouse, and I kind of screamed…”

My dad dropped me down the Mariana Trench! What? And then I had to clean up the leaves. So I did and I found a dead mouse, and I kind of screamed, and put it down in the corner as fast as I could. And then my dad made me pick up the dead mouse. What did you pick it up with? A plastic bag. Oh! The look on your face. So it wasn’t the Mariana Trench, was it? It was the window well. Hey you took all the fun out of it! Well, somebody had to go and get all the dead leaves out and you’re the perfect size. I'm sorry about the mouse. Was it big? Small? It was like maybe this big. Hmm, pretty small. Eww! It's a good thing you got it out because what would have happened if you’d left the mouse there? I don’t know. Like on a hot day? I don’t know. That mouse would have started to smell bad and it's right next to your brothers window isn't it? In the basement. Oh yeah. Yeah. So you did a good thing. Thank you for getting the mouse out.

“I’m thankful that this school year is coming to an end…”

I'm grateful today for the good weather because it's super pretty out and warm out. And then also, I just recently passed my driver's test. So, I'm really happy about that, so then I can start driving. This week was really stressful thought for me because I had so many tests to study for including my driving test. And then, like last week I had a radio test to take. So I was studying or maybe it was two weeks ago, I can't remember now. But, I've been studying a lot lately and it's just been taking a toll on me and being really hard on me. I am very excited that school is ending soon and it's gonna be summer because it is hard to stay in school and it is hard to be in school and do all this work all the time. And even though I am completely virtual,I still get a ton of homework and I feel like people that are in person think that since I am virtual, I don't get as much homework or I have more time to do it. When in fact, I get a lot more homework than them and it's a way more like -- for me, it's more stressful because there's no big bright side to it. Other than being, not like having to really interact with people, but it's still a lot of homework. So I'm thankful that this school year is coming to an end and I can finally get a break and hang out with maybe a friend of mine or two and relax and not have to worry about my grades for a couple months.s more stressful because there's no big bright side to it. “I will be going through pregnancy in the times of COVID-19.”

When I think about this week, this week has been pretty good. I'm under some pretty serious stress at work, but this morning I received news that I am expecting a child. So, I will be going through pregnancy in the times of COVID-19. I’m pretty nervous about it. I actually stopped at the store earlier today to pick up some avocados cuz it's the only thing in the world I want right now. Just the knowledge that I may be vaccinated, but the knowledge that COVID-19 in particular is really difficult and pregnant women are more susceptible to the effects of it, made me really nervous. But overall the week has been pretty good. I had a really good Mother's Day. I enjoyed spending it with my family.

“Have you ever been voted most likely or best something?”

Have you ever been voted most likely or best something? What was it? If not, what superlative do you think would most describe you? It's been a minute. Yeah, I like that image you put in the featured recordings, the paper plate awards. I always thought that was a fun, like, end of season thing for sports teams, when I was in like middle school, and going forward, but I just haven't really done it since then. What would describe me? Probably nerdy. Like even among my peers at work, I would probably be considered nerdy. Most nerdy. Yeah, that's interesting. I haven't reflected on that in long time.

“Which would you rather eat for the rest of your life spaghetti or mac and cheese?”

Which would you rather eat for the rest of your life? Spaghetti or Mac and Cheese. Both. Why? Because I really like spaghetti, because number one, it tastes really good and sometimes I just like the shape. What shapes do like best?   Maybe the twisty ones and the bowties. Those are probably my favorites. You said it tastes good but some people think that spaghetti doesn't taste of anything. What does it taste like? Well, it tastes good, but it doesn’t taste too much of anything, but with butter you can really taste its taste. That's what I like about it. Yeah, we have pretty salty butter, don't we? I think it’s nice. Yeah, wait what were you going to say? Well, is there anything else that you like to put on Spaghetti, besides butter? Also parmesan cheese and that’s really it. Okay, what about mac and cheese? What do you like about that? I like, so, my favorite mac and cheese shapes are shells and farm animals. Do you like the, you like the orange sauce, right? Not the white sauce? Yeah. Do they taste different? Each pack, well each time? Yeah, they sort of do in their own way. All right. Well, let's imagine you really had to pick. You could only eat one of them for the rest of your life. You had to give up the other one. Which one would you give up? Hmm. Imagine, you're fifty and you're still eating one of them, but only one of them. I would, well I just can't answer that question. Maybe I would go with shells, but I just don't know what to say for that question okay.

“A couple of years ago, I tore my ACL and meniscus when I was playing volleyball.”

So the question I think is, what’s something difficult that's helped you gain gratitude? So, a couple years ago, I tore my ACL and meniscus when I was playing volleyball. So, that was something really difficult for me. It was about a nine month recovery, nine, ten months. I missed two volleyball seasons. So, that was really hard for me because I mean I love playing, it's my favorite thing to do and it was hard to I guess see everybody, see all my friends playing when I couldn't but -- and the difficulty of just learning how to walk and run again, when it was stuff I could do like months before. It felt like impossible and I felt like I would never get there. But I think that whole experience helped me gain gratitude for like everything that your body can do for you. Like not only walk and run, but or I didn't -- not even just missing playing volleyball, but just missing being able to like walk or stand up by myself. I think it made me and it also made me more grateful for those I had, just like how amazing the people in my life were and how much I guess it's like you say, you don't know how much you have till it's gone. So, that experience is really difficult for me but it was also one that helped me become more grateful for the people in my life, for the sport, and just for like the basic things that you think you'll always be able to do until you can't.t know how much you have till it's gone.
