“And I had lost so much blood that they called the emergency unit.”

This one time, me and my brother went on a bike ride, and — it was a 20-mile bike ride, and we were hot and sweaty, and we got home. I was 17. He was 21. We were fighting over the front door teasingly. We were joking around. And I would open the door, and he would shut it, and I would open it, er — and he would open it, and I would shut it, to see who would get into the shower first. And I gave up, and he opened it one last time, and I put my arm through it. And I saw this piece of glass come down, slow motion, and then I saw my bone, and then I saw the blood. And I had lost so much blood that they called the emergency unit to come and get me because I was passing out. I had 150 stitches put in my arm on the inside and the outside. And I’m a freckle-faced girl, so now my freckles on my arm turns into stripes over my scar. So I have a striped scar. That was the last time I think I did anything athletic.
